The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department wants help putting names to 27 faces captured on surveillance cameras inside an East Los Angeles AutoZone that was ransacked twice in two days.

Deputies say a group of suspects smashed the glass entry doors of the store in the 1130 block of South Atlantic Boulevard, just north of Olympic Boulevard, at about 2:22 a.m. on Aug. 8. Security footage shows one person breaking the door before roughly 10 others rushed in. A second break-in hit the same store around 3:30 a.m. on Aug. 9, with additional suspects joining in.

LASD described both incidents as a "coordinated, mob-like burglary" that caused significant loss and damage to the business.

No arrests have been made.

The department released surveillance photos of all 27 suspects in two bulletins posted to social media. The first, on Aug. 14, showed 11 suspects from the Aug. 8 break-in. The second, on Aug. 15, showed 16 from the Aug. 9 incident. Investigators believe some suspects participated both nights.

A street takeover was underway near Olympic and Atlantic boulevards during the first burglary, and sheriff's officials told KTLA that spectators were believed to have ransacked the store. LASD said the method of operation for both incidents was similar and occurred during street racing activity.

The LA Times reported that the suspect who broke the door wore a hoodie with a skull graphic and the words "Wild One." At least two suspects held up their phones, apparently recording themselves. A third wore a "Scream" mask in American flag colors. Video from inside the store showed smashed windows and computers, aisles filled with broken glass and products pulled off shelves, and a destroyed electrical system.

The East LA store was not the only AutoZone targeted that weekend. KTLA reported break-ins at AutoZone locations in Watts, Downey and Long Beach during street takeover activity, though it remains unclear whether the same suspects were involved.

The following weekend, on Aug. 15, a family-owned liquor store in Bellflower was ransacked during a separate street takeover, with deputies estimating nearly $30,000 in losses, according to KTLA. The burglaries underscore a persistent link between illegal takeovers and property crime across Los Angeles County.

LASD's quarterly street takeover report covering January through March 2026 counted 135 illegal takeovers countywide, a 28 percent drop from the same period in 2025. During that quarter, LASD and CHP issued 160 citations, made 30 arrests and towed 71 vehicles.
