Malibu declares emergency as sinkhole forces 31 home evacuations

A massive sinkhole caused by coastal erosion from Hurricane Marie prompted Malibu to declare a local state of emergency on Tuesday, Sept. 8, ordering evacuations for 31 oceanfront homes near Lechuza Beach after the collapse severed road access and ruptured gas lines.

The January 2012 storm caused U.S. 101 at milepost 333 (near Gold Beach) to slump (sink and crack).

LAPD releases video of Hollywood 7-Eleven robbery suspects

An 18-year-old woman was beaten unconscious and robbed of her gold necklace inside a Hollywood 7-Eleven on Aug. 29, and LAPD is releasing surveillance video and asking the public to help identify two suspects.
