The first-ever Brentwood Bash brought about 50 vendors, artists and restaurants to San Vicente Boulevard on Saturday, Sept. 26. The free festival doubled as a gathering point for Pacific Palisades businesses still rebuilding after the January 2025 fire.
Mayor Karen Bass and Los Angeles City Councilwoman Traci Park appeared on stage alongside the event's three producers: Alexis Pappas, Carolyn Jordan and Barbara Roll. Park thanked Brentwood residents for their response to the Palisades Fire.
"The last 20 months here on the Westside have been extremely difficult," Park said. "When our city needed you, you all opened your communities, your schools, your neighborhoods and your homes to so many of our friends and neighbors who were displaced out of the Palisades."
The festival stretched along the eastbound side of San Vicente between Montana Avenue and Barrington Avenue from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Palisadian-Post reported. Exhibits included food, live entertainment, fitness activities, shopping and family-friendly programming including a petting zoo.
Among the vendors were several Pacific Palisades businesses that relocated to the Westside after the fire. Paliskates, a skate shop that lost its flagship store at 1021 Swarthmore Ave. in the blaze, staffed a booth with employees Ari Borstein and Graydon Larson. The shop was free to attend.
Owner Erica Simpson reopened Paliskates at 212 26th St. in Santa Monica after the original location, open since 1999, was destroyed. She told the Palisadian-Post on Sept. 14 that she is targeting an early 2027 return to Pacific Palisades, saying Brentwood has been good to the business but "our home is in the Palisades."
Palisadian artist Martha Meade also displayed her work at the festival.
Park's office partnered with the producers to organize the event. Community sponsors included the Brentwood Homeowners Association, which is marking its 80th year, the South Brentwood Residents Association, Douglas Emmett, Thomas Safran & Associates, Vicente Foods and the CD11 Foundation. The Santa Monica Daily Press reported that several Santa Monica vendors also participated.
Organizers said they hope to establish the Brentwood Bash as an annual tradition. No date for a 2027 event has been announced.
