Tyler Glasnow couldn't find his command, and the Dodgers' eight-game winning streak ended Saturday, Sept. 12, in a 4-3 loss to the Miami Marlins.

Mookie Betts and Max Muncy hit back-to-back solo home runs in the first inning, giving Los Angeles an early 2-0 lead. Glasnow gave it all back before the second inning was over, the Los Angeles Times reported.

The trouble started in the first. Glasnow hung a curveball to Griffin Conine, who drove it to the warning track in center field. Tommy Edman tracked it but couldn't secure the catch, and Conine reached second. Glasnow then hit Otto Lopez on the hand and walked Jakob Marsee to load the bases. He escaped when Javier Sanoja lined out to left.

In the second, Glasnow walked the leadoff hitter before Graham Pauley crushed a fastball for a two-run homer. Three straight singles added another run. Miami led 3-2.

Glasnow settled down in the third and fourth innings, retiring six straight batters. But after walking the first two hitters in the fifth, manager Dave Roberts pulled him at 91 pitches.

"He just couldn't get his rhythm," Roberts said. "You could see he was fighting himself all game."

Roberts added that Glasnow didn't feel great physically coming into the start but couldn't pinpoint the issue. Glasnow, whose back spasms sidelined him for three and a half months earlier this season, said the back feels good. He was activated from the injured list Aug. 25 after the injury cut short a May 6 start in Houston. He had posted a 2.72 ERA in seven starts before the IL stint.

Reliever Jack Dreyer hit the first batter he faced. A high throw from Betts to second baseman Alex Freeland pulled Freeland off the bag, allowing another run to score. Dreyer got out of the jam on a double play started by Betts, and the bullpen held the Marlins scoreless the rest of the way.

The Dodgers nearly rallied in the ninth. Rookie Josue De Paula, who debuted Friday, drew a walk, advanced to second on defensive indifference and scored on a single by catcher Hunter Feduccia. Will Smith then lined out to third to end the game.

Freddie Freeman returned to the lineup Saturday after sitting two games to rest a sore right knee. He went hitless in four at-bats. Roberts said he plans to give Freeman occasional rest days down the stretch to keep him healthy for the postseason.

The loss dropped the Dodgers to 90-58. They lead the Padres by 10 games in the NL West, with a magic number of 4 to clinch the division and 3 to clinch a playoff berth. Fourteen games remain.

Emmett Sheehan starts Sunday, Sept. 13, in the series finale against Miami. The Dodgers then open a four-game set at Cincinnati on Monday, Sept. 14, with Tarik Skubal, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Blake Snell lined up for the first three starts. Roki Sasaki, on the IL with a right middle finger blister, could return to start Thursday in Cincinnati.
