Lea Salonga received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday, Sept. 4, becoming the first Filipina honored on the boulevard.

The Tony Award-winning actress and singer, 55, received the 2,855th star in the Live Performance category during a late-morning ceremony outside the Pantages Theatre. Dressed in an all-purple outfit, Salonga got down on the ground to accept the honor, according to Rolling Stone.

"This is surreal. I have walked down this street many times. I've stepped on a lot of famous people, and now people get to step on me," Salonga said during the ceremony, according to Fox 11. "Which feels strangely appropriate for show business."

Brandy, Darren Criss and Ming-Na Wen delivered remarks at the ceremony. Grammy and Academy Award-winning musician H.E.R. was also in attendance, ABC News reported. Emmy Award-winning journalist Sibley Scoles emceed the program, according to the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Brandy praised Salonga for giving children representation through Disney princesses. Wen provided the speaking voice for Mulan in Disney's 1998 animated film while Salonga supplied the singing voice. "I'm so happy I can be here to sing your praises. Not really singing. That's for my sister there," Wen joked.

Salonga's career spans 45 years. Born in Manila, she made her professional debut at age 7 and won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical in 1991 for "Miss Saigon," becoming the first Asian woman to win in that category, NBC Los Angeles reported. She is also the singing voice of Princess Jasmine in Disney's 1992 animated film "Aladdin" and was named a Disney Legend in 2011.

The Manila International Film Festival (MIFF), a member of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, nominated Salonga for the Walk of Fame honor. The star sits in front of the Pantages Theatre, a venue known for musicals.

Filipino American performers Jo Koy and Nicole Scherzinger are among the Walk of Fame's Class of 2027. Salonga's next film role is as The Dreaded Manananggal in DreamWorks Animation's "Forgotten Island," set for release Sept. 25.
