Jayden Maiava threw five touchdown passes as No. 14 USC rolled past Louisiana 49-30 Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

USC's freshmen scored five of the team's seven touchdowns in the win, which completes a 3-0 nonconference sweep and extends the Trojans' home winning streak to 10 games, dating to the 2024 season.

Maiava, a redshirt senior quarterback, completed 19 of 29 passes for 261 yards, per the LA Times, despite an interception on the game's opening drive. Louisiana cornerback Avery Demery returned the pick to USC's 39-yard line, setting up a field goal that gave the Ragin' Cajuns an early lead.

From there, Maiava took over. Freshman tight end Mark Bowman hauled in six catches for 83 yards and two first-half touchdowns, including a 35-yard reception on which he hurdled two Louisiana defenders. Freshman wide receiver Kayden Dixon-Wyatt added a 19-yard scoring catch in the second quarter.

Then came Trent Mosley.

The freshman wide receiver fielded a punt in the second quarter and raced 86 yards to the end zone. He added a 21-yard receiving touchdown in the third quarter, giving him five total touchdowns through three collegiate games. Mosley, a Chicago native, prepped at Santa Margarita Catholic High School in Rancho Santa Margarita under former USC quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Carson Palmer. He has been electric since his debut against San Jose State on Aug. 29, when he posted seven catches for 118 yards and a score.

The day before the Louisiana game, Mosley told the Daily Trojan at a Sept. 11 press conference that his rapid growth traces to studying defensive schemes. After the win, he acknowledged the next challenge: "It's been good getting adjusted to this … But now we go on the road, so that'll be a new adjustment."

Running back King Miller pounded out 128 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries. USC rushed for 214 yards total, with nearly 100 coming in the fourth quarter after the outcome was decided.

On defense, freshman defensive tackle Luke Wafle led the team with seven tackles. Louisiana quarterback Lunch Winfield rushed for 91 yards, and the Ragin' Cajuns scored 20 second-half points. Coach Lincoln Riley called the performance "up and down" and said the team's intensity "dipped a little bit" after halftime.

Still, Riley sees upside in a roster loaded with young talent. "I feel like our peak, our trajectory should be even higher because of how many young guys are playing," he said.

The timing could matter. On the same Saturday, Ohio State blew a 20-point fourth-quarter lead to Texas and Oregon fell to Oklahoma State, shaking up the top of the Big Ten standings just as USC enters conference play.

USC travels to Piscataway, New Jersey, to face Rutgers (0-2) on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 12:30 p.m.
